Brown County Community Reports
In 2000, the Tracy Family Foundation sponsored a research study done in cooperation with the University of Illinois Rural Families Program in Champaign, IL, and Cooperative extension Office in Springfield, to help understand the important issues, challenges, concerns, and needs facing Brown County youth and families.
Five years later, in 2005, TFF contracted The Medical Foundation and University of Illinois Extension-Adams/Brown County Unit to take a fresh look at the strengths and needs of Brown County in the areas of youth, education, families services, health and wellness, and community betterment. The intention of this effort was to provide a comprehensive view of the needs and resources within Brown County, offer stakeholders current data to inform decision-making, and give direction on future funding decisions. The outcome of this Report was the formation of the Brown County Action Team initiative.
In 2007, the Tracy Family Foundation engaged Dr. Mark Edgar of the Illinois Public Health Institute to produce a Brown County Community Progress Report. This Report provides measurements on selected indicators within the issue areas identified in the 2005 Brown County Needs and Asset Report. The Adams/Brown Unit of University of Illinois Extension will update this Report annually.
